Mitchell The Pig

Far away, the setting sun warmed the farm in a dusky pink glow, as Fred the pig settled in for the night. It had been a very long day. Fred had a rosy pink snout, and he always twitching his nose as he sniffed looking for some crunchy vegetables. His small eyes were sharp and inquisitive wanting to find out something. Patches of coarse hair stuck out from his furry face and had lots of tufts. He was nosy by nature, he was always wanting to know what was going around him.
For nearly one hundred years, the farm had been nestled on the side of the hill next to the babbling creek. There were tidy, packed, bales of hay that rested in a neat array. Water tanks stood to attention like three rotund guards guarding the barn. There were  rolling hills that caught the long shadows of the late afternoon sun. The crooked old barn was home, comforting and always busy with it inhabitants. The farm was a long muddy track, far away from the main highway.  Fred had next door neighbours as he watched the kids every day on their trampoline they did tricks. They did amazing tricks that no one could those kind of tricks. Fred tried to do them lots of times but he failed. He tried it once more and he jumped over the fence. He was free. He ran in town to the beach. He was swimming for a very long time.

Fred had worried concentration and it made Fred frown in earnest.
Fred’s hooves were trying to tread the water but he could hardly stay afloat in the water Turquoise water lapped at his snout as he tried to breath.
Panic was setting in as he appeared, he was very unable to close the gap in land.

Mitchell The Skater

It was clear that the skater was oblivious to my presence. Stern concentration caused the skater to frown. He shifted his weight, allowing for the board to rotate in mid-air. While i was watching him skate
his body was silhouetted against the soft pink dusk sky.
There was a big heat haze and it was covering the city in a steamy warm blanket, turning the hills to a pastel mauve.

Mitchell Old Woman Description

Her stare made it very clear that she knew what I had done and would never forget. But I could see deep channels of time, etched into the wizened surface in her face. Her eyes were keen, alight with mischievous youth. She had cracked lips and she was furling her mouth around her gums where teeth once stood. Rich indigo velvet was folded carefully to frame her face.

Mitchell CRE Mary Jones and her Bible

Mary Jones and her Bible

Many,Many years ago a small girl lived with her parents in a small stone cottage in the Welsh countryside.Mary,s parents were weavers. They worked really hard for some pennies.Mary helped with the household chores. She fed the chickens, milked the cows, swept the floors and cleaned the house. On Sunday mornings mary went to church with her parents dressed in their best clothes. They sat on big long chairs and listened to the words of the bible.Mary always wanted a bible of her own.Her parents could not afford enough pennies to buy a bible for mary.Mary had an idea she thought she could save up heaps and heaps of pennies. She did not care how long it took to save up her pennies for a bible. She saved her pennies for 6 long years doing chores for other people and doing outdoor work.Soon she had enough pennies to buy a bible for herself. She told her parents and her parents told her there were no more bibles left on sale. They told her teacher what she had done for the past 6 years.Mary,s teacher told her there was a man that sold some bibles in the town of Bala.Mary,s parents told her bala was 25 miles away.Mary did not change her mind. She walked on foot all the way to bala for nearly the whole day.She arrived in the town of Bala in the evening and found the man,s door.Mr Charles. She knocked loudly on his door.Mr Charles opened the door and she told Mr Charles her whole story.Mr Charles was surprised he said you need something to eat first. So she ate her bread and chesse. She got given the last bible from Mr Charles.Thank you she said and ran back to her small stone cottage. She showed it to her parents and freinds and she read her bible nearly everyday. The End

Mitchell Haiti Writing

What caused so many people to die in 2010 in Haiti?

In 2010 there was a very large earthquake which killed over 100 000 people in Port au Prince, the capital city of Haiti. The earthquake was magnitude 7.0.

Many people died because they were trapped under buildings. After the earthquake, people did not have clean water to drink, much food to eat, or homes to live in, and many people got sick from diseases such as Cholera. The roads and buildings, including hospitals, were destroyed so emergency services were not able to get to people who were injured. There were also a number of aftershocks.

This week, we are going to write an explanation about why so many people died in the 2010 earthquake in Haiti.

I am looking for sentences that add detail in different places, as well as correct punctuation.

Write an introduction: write two sentences about Haiti. Now write two sentences about the earthquake. Write one sentence to say what you are going to explain.

Start writing here:

Haiti is Located the Caribbean south of the Island of Cuba and occupies the Western third of the Island of Hispaniola. It is bound by the Dominican Republic to the East  of the Atlantic Ocean. In 2010 the Capital of Haiti Port au Prince had a huge Earthquake. I am going to explain to you why so many people died.
The first reason why so many people died was because they had no food to eat,no houses to live in and no fresh water to drink. Some people got stuck in busted houses and they could not breath and lots of people were drowning in the water and could not get back to land. There is a New Zealand Foundation that is Called Purple Cake Day and it Sends Money to Haiti.
