Aspiration, Inspiration, Motivation!

Hey bloggers! this morning we had the amazing opportunity to hear a speech from Andrew Patterson and past Pt England student ( Raenan ). He first took us back to 2013 where he first met Raenan an Year 8 Pt England student at the time. He had amazing privellages and was taught lots of cool things, such as : how to prepare a speech, how to be a good leader and also being prepared for college.

Raenan also took us back to Year 9 we had many opportunities to apply for. He joined a club named " Geek Club " and was taught to teach elderly people how to use technology and devices based around media. That's pretty interesting. Raenan also was in the New Zealand Herald which he had interviews, pictures taken too.

Well we also watched a video about a Manurewa High School, Year 12 Student who was also speaking a good speech and talked about his past life as his father was apart of the Mongrel Mob Gang. It was really interesting to hear about. So the moral of the speech/story was to try your hardest and best.

It was to strive for things you think your not good at and take as many opportunities as you can cause it can get you somewhere in life. He did give us advice and tips : to go hard, focus on school, try your best and hardest, take the most opportunities as possible! Raenan will now be a head boy at Tamaki College next year in 2018!

Mitchell's Tech Class - 2 - (Hard Materials)

Hey bloggers! Today it was tech and the Yr 7's walked down to Tamaki College! My new group Hard materials have been drawing and working out what we want to make with wood.

So far I have drawn a claw machine, a dispenser, and more. It's really exciting and I'm looking foward to making my piece. Mr Grundy said that we have to have the main joint in our piece, so we have to include it.

Mitchell's Tech Class - 1 (Hard Materials)

Hey bloggers! Yesterday the Yr 7's went to Tamaki college for Tech. We had changed into new tech groups for the next 2-3 months. We got put into Hard Materials as we were in Cooking with Miss Heka last.

First we got to sit on a working table that we were going to work on for the rest of the months. He then talked about some individual wooden toys. Then he gave us some paper to sketch on about what we were going to make.

Well that's it.

Mitchell's Tech Dish - Blueberry Muffins

Hey bloggers! Today was the last tech dish I made. I hope you guys liked all my other dishes I made. On the last day of cooking we mad blueberry muffins.

Here is how we made it: First of all I put 200 grams of icing sugar in a bowl. Next I put 200 grams of Self raising flour into a medium bowl. Then my buddy chopped up some pieces of butter. Then we put the butter into the bowl with the icing sugar and mixed it up with a electric mixer.

Then after it was mixed we put the self raising flour with the icing sugar and butter mixture and started to mix. Then I ran to go get the muffin liners and put them inside the muffin holders.

We put the mixture in gently with a spatula. Then I added blueberries into the muffin liners filled with the muffin mixture. Then we gave it to Miss Heka to put in the oven to bake.

While we were waiting we were cleaning up and washing the dishes. After waiting it was finally ready to eat. We put the muffins in a brown paper bag and packed it away.

Thank you to Miss Heka who helped and taught us how to bake and cook yummy and delicious things. She is the best baker/cooker I know. She should own a restaurant or a bakery. Hopefully I get to be in Food tech again next year.

Here is a photo of the muffins I made :

Thank you Miss Heka!

Mitchell's Tech dish - Fruit Tart

Hello bloggers! Today at tech I made a Fruit tart with my friend Noah. The last week we came we had to make the pastry which included butter and flour and flattening it out onto a tin foil tray. Then Mrs Heka put it somewhere to keep it cool for next week.

When we came back the week after which was today we got to decorate it and make it delicious. First we got 1 cup of milk, 2 tablespoons of custard powder, 2 tablespoons of sugar to make our custard.

We put it in the pot we were going to cook with and started to stir. Then we got the fruits which included peaches, strawberries, grapes, kiwifruit and more. We then added it to our pastry which we already put in with our custard.

Yay! We were finished. Now all I go to do is take a picture of our wonderful dish:

It looked so yummy I just wanted to eat it right away but we couldn't because we had to go on the bus back to school plus it was raining. Then when we arrived at school it was lunch time and I finally got to eat it! Delicious. It was so yummy. You should try making it one day it is so delicious.

Mitchell Tech Dish - Chicken Goujons and Potatoes

Hey bloggers! Today we the (Year 7's) went to tech as usual on Thursday mornings. Tech is held at the nearby secondary school - Tamaki College.  You are put into groups for the rest of the term and have to choose a buddy to help cook with you. The groups include: Hard Materials, Arts, Graphics, and Cooking. I was very fortunate to be put into the Cooking group with Miss Heka.

Well this was at the start of the term so let's fast forward to today! We walked inside the big cooking area washed our hands, dried hands then put aprons on! Then we went to our kitchens!

First of all we got all of the kitchen supplies to make food! Then next we got the ingredients. Here's how we made it. 1 person had to go get out the cooking supplies while the other one had to get the ingredients (which was me). I got a plate with some chicken breasts, 4 tablespoons of flour in a large bowl, 4 tablespoons of breadcrumbs, and some mixed herbs and oil. Plus an egg.

We put all of the ingredients in separate bowls to dip the chicken into. I cut the chicken into thin strips and dipped them into the separate bowls. Then I started to cook them on the pan with some cooking oil.

Then when the potatoes where cut we put it on a cooking tray and put it in a huge oven. Then the chicken and potatoes were ready! We served it on our bowls and it was done!
