In the 1960s there was a great deal of change in New Zealand. Technology was evolving and the television was introduced for the first time into New Zealand homes in the 1960s. Popular programmes included Town and Around and C’mon.  Television remains popular to this day.

I have been asked to tell you about my favourite television show now! I also have questions that I will answer :

Name/s : The Amazing Race, Regular Show

Genre: Adventure/Animated Cartoon

What is your favourite television show at the moment? The Amazing Race/Regular Show

What is it about?

The Amazing Race is about groups of people who travel to different cities and countries and solve out clues about different places set up by people who create the TV Show.

Regular Show was a Cartoon Show that played on Cartoon Show. It still plays and I love it. It's about a group of flatmates who live in a house and the basically work at the local park and have fun adventures. I recommend watching it!

Who are the main characters?

The Amazing Race : Group of Strangers
Regular Show : Mordecai and Rigby

What channel is it on?

The Amazing Race : TV2
Regular Show : TV2, Cartoon Network

Activity 2 : Rock ' n ' Roll

Famous bands also started travelling across the world and in 1964, New Zealand hosted, arguably the most popular band of the time, The Beatles.

People were very excited to see The Beatles, and the hype around the band was known as Beatle-Mania (similar to the modern-day Bieber-Fever)!

I have been asked to read about their New Zealand Tour and list 3 interesting facts about the Beetles.

  • Did you know? The Beatles were first created in Liverpool in 1960
  • Did you know? The group broke up in 1970. Each of the members enjoyed a successful musical career.
  • Did you know? The Beatles are the most highest certified music group in the US?

Bonus Activity : The 3 R's - Rugby, Running, Racing

In the 1960s, sport in New Zealand was dominated by the three R’s – rugby, racing and running. The national rugby team, the All Blacks, had a great decade, winning 36 of the 40 games that they played. Many kiwis also spent their week-ends at the local racetrack and, in 1960, Peter Snell won a gold medal in the 800m race at the Olympic Games in Rome, Italy. He followed this up with two more gold medals in the 800m and 1500m races at the 1964 Olympic Games.

I have been asked to watch this documentary about Peter Snell and the create a poster using an website Canva about this famous Kiwi Runner. I also have to include a picture of him and some information.

Mitchell Summer learning journey Day # 12

Good morning blog viewers. Today is day 12 of the Summer learning journey. Today I will be learning about different TV shows. Lets begin!

Activity 1 -As seen on TV
I have been asked to watch a popular television show from the country I have decided to choose from. I will be watching a Japanese television show which I heard is very popular. The name of the show is  Anpanman: Ironman vs. Japanese Ghost .  I have just finished watching the episode and now I have to write a review: 1. The name of the TV show was "Ironman VS Japanese Ghost". 2. What I liked about the show ? : What I liked about the show was that Ironman fought the ants to save his friends. 3. What you didn't like about the show ? : I didn't like that he kept saving his friends over and over again.

I would rate the show ** stars because it was kind of boring and more of a TV show for kids under 5 in Japan.

Activity 2 - Favourite TV show

Well I have been asked to tell you my favourite TV show right now. It is The amazing race. It is about 11 teams of 2 who find clues to participate in activities to get the next clue in order to get to the end to win. The remaining teams who are last get disqualified.
