Mitchell - Explanation Draft ( Labour Day )

Have you ever wondered about the day Labour Day? Why do we even celebrate Labour Day? Well today I am going to tell you why Labour Day is celebrated here in our country Aotearoa also known as New Zealand. Well it’s a day people around the world take the day off work. Did you know that New Zealand was one of the first countries in the world to have an 8 hour working day. That’s amazing!

Well every year on the 4th Monday of October, people get to celebrate the rights of working less than at least 12 or 10 hours. Back in the days people did not have the opportunity to work less than 12 hours. Some even had to work for 18 hours. Then one man named Samuel Parnell decided that this was all wrong. He did not think it was right to work more than 8 hours and needed to do something about it. In 1840 he refused to work 8 hours as a carpenter in a shop he worked in.

So Samuel Parnell had worked for 8 hours straight. The normal time the workers would work also known as labour would be for 12 hours. He always went to go explain his decision at court as to why he didn’t work the average hours and it would also affect his pay wage. He didn’t think anything was right. He still worked 8 hours and did not care about what anyone else thought.

Well it was fair enough that New Zealanders were the first workers among the world to claim the right to have an 8 hour working day, but they decided to support his decision of a full 8 hour working day. In Wellington around that time Samuel Parnell visited court and the judge decided for everyone in New Zealand to have the right to work 8 hours.

Well now you know why Labour Day here in New Zealand is celebrated, maybe consider celebrating yourself. If you are a current resident of another country maybe research the dates of Labour Day in your country. What did you do for Labour Day? Have you ever celebrated Labour Day? Now you know the reason of why Labour Day is celebrated. Happy Labour Day to you all!

Hey bloggers! Did you know it's Niuean Language Week! Cheeeeehoooo! Today at the school assembly the Niuean Language Week Dance group performed today! It was amazing. You can check the post I wrote about it down below. Anyways after the dance Mr Jacobsen the Associate Principal had a few instruments displayed on the stage. He also had a few tricks up his sleeve he could use while playing the instruments.

Displayed on the stage were a conch shell, a shofar, a bugle, and finally a trumpet. First he held up a conch shell. The conch shell was based on the history of the Pacific and Polynesian Islands. He blew through the small hole at the end of the conch shell and it started to make an blowing noise! "Mmmm" was the noise it made. It was awesome!

Then he put it down and then everyone happily clapped. He then got out another instrument named the Shofar! It is originated in the Arabian Deserts and the Middle East! It is used to make special calls! He blew it and it sounded like a beautiful masterpiece.

It was a really nice sound he made.

Anyways the next instrument was a bugle. Yes a bugle pronounced - boo-gul like google but boogul. He gripped his hands on the long part and blew hard into the hole. He also played the Anzac Remembrance Song! Then finally he blew the golden trumpet. He also played a few songs on there too!

Celebrating Niue Language Week!

Fakalofa Lahi Atu Bloggers! Hey bloggers! Today in the school hall performed the Niuean Dance group which has roughly been practising their dance for 1 week. Did you know? In New Zealand it is Niuean Language Week! Yes! We are celebrating the culture and language of Niue and Niuean People which is really cool!

Niue Language Week Dance!
The huge group of children who performed today were amazing! They did special and cultural dances and also did a haka in Niuean at the end. The boys were also shouting from the stage too, like fierce warriors. The theme for the week is "Koe Vagahau Niue Koe Atefua, he tagata Niue" which means The Language of Niue is The Heart Of the Niuean People!

The children were wearing and dressed in Niuean costumes and clothes. The girls were wearing a lava-lava, a white t-shirt and a necklace or a lei. The boys were wearing a lava-lava and a niuean sisi which is a white shredded costume you can wear around your neck and your ankles.

Their performance was great! Thanks to Mrs Lagitipu and Ms Teleso for teaching the dance. Also parents too who also helped!

Mitchell - Writing Explanation 2 (How to be organised for school each day)

Hey bloggers! Here is another writing explanation I have written for you! I am going to tell you how to get organised for school each day before school starts.

The night before the school day you should already have got your uniform ready! Your School Shirt, School Shorts, School Jacket, School PE Top, and a new pair of socks to wear for the day. Maybe lay it out on the door of your bedroom. Then with your chromebook if it's really low with battery then you should charge it. Just plug your Chromebook charger into an outlet in your room!

Lunch! I recommend chucking out your lunchbox on the table or bench and start packing your lunch, so it's ready to pop in your bag after you've gotten ready! Make your own sandwich to help mum out. Remember healthy things. Pack some fruit, snacks or even a small box of juice! Now your lunch is ready.

In the morning make your bed. Get your uniform that is ready. If you're going to shower do it for at least 3 - 4 minutes! Pop in your lunchbox, quickly have breakfast. Do your hair, brush your teeth and clean your face and jump out the door. ( Actually jump out the door if you don't want to be in Re-Think) Also re-think is a place you go to @ lunchtime and clean up!

* Quick tips - Wake up @ 7:30 or earlier! Me and my sisters wake up @ 6:00 and get to school @ 7:00. Pretty Early!

Mitchell - Writing Explanation (How To Make A Toasted Sandwich)

Hey bloggers! It's me Mitchell again blogging back to you! Today I am going to tell you - How to make the best cheese and onion toasted sandwich! Now, me and my sisters always make toasted sandwiches frequently because we use and own a Toasted Sandwich Maker!

Here are the ingredients we use! :

1 loaf of fresh bread!
10 slices of Mozzarella Cheese
A handful of shredded cheddar cheese
1 bag of appetising brown onions

1 container of fresh Sunrise Butter

We walk down to the local dairy and buy one loaf of fresh dairy bread, along with some smooth fresh sunrise butter, and a bag of appetising onions. It costs around $6.00! When we get home we get out the sandwich maker! We flick off the little blue thing on the bag of the loaf - which has the expiry date, and chuck the bread on a plate!
We then get out the butter knife from the drawers, open the lid of the butter container and slide the butter knife through the thick butter. (a lot of butter).  Anyways we lay the slices of bread inside the sandwich maker and rip open the bag of onions. We get another plate out, a sharp knife and slice the onion into small cubes. Sometimes my mum helps us too!

We spread it along the slices of buttered bread and put a swirl of aioli sauce on the top to make it even tasty! Finally we add a few slices of sliced cheese from the supermarket! Then we close down the lid of the machine and click the button to start. It starts to sizzle and cook on the grill and you can smell the delicious aroma of the sandwiches. After about 3 minutes it should be ready!

Put all sandwiches on a small - sized plate and then it's ready to eat delicious and warm! "Munch" ! goes my mouth as it digs into the sandwich! I hope you get to make a toasted sandwich!

(Recount) School Immersion Assembly - Mitchell

Hey bloggers! Today was the 1st day of Term 4 for 2017! We just finished the School Holidays and we are now  back into school! If you were reading my blog in the holidays thanks very much! Anyways let's start!

Have you ever felt so good you just want to dance! Well today the whole school felt excited in a way they were very happy. If you didn't know this term's topic for Pt England School is "Musical Madness". This term is all about music! Now each Team gets to perform a special performance about the topic or make a awesome movie! Now let's start the recount!

The assembly started off with Team 1 performing their item! The teachers from Team 1 pulled up an big green table on stage, alongside with some classroom chairs! They sat down in their chairs and pulled out an deck of play cards. The cards were divided between each teacher! They were going to play an original card game " Snap" !

In the background music played and teachers played! They each put one card down for the game to start! It was on! The music in the background changed frequently their emotions changed as well. For Example : their was horror music playing and they would act scared, then exciting/happy music played and the teachers would re-act their emotions depending on the music!

It was really entertaining! The music stopped and everyone cheered for the Team 1 teachers! Then Mr Burt came to the front to tell the school the next performance was "Team 2". Everyone was pumped and ready since they were entertained from Team 1!
The Team 2 teachers began to walk on stage 1 by 1! Miss Gaston had a mini brown ukulele in her hands and started strumming the strings playing "In the Jungle"! Then she started singing and then Miss Peck came along with an bell!
Team 2 teachers singing and playing instruments!

She started ringing an small bell instrument! "Ring, Ring, Ring" the bell goes! Then Miss Tumahai walks on stage with an xylophone and started hitting colours with a small wooden stick! Then finally the team leader" Miss Nalder" walked on stage with a small mini drum set! She started drumming with her hands!

Then they walked off one by one and everyone started to clap for the entertaining performance! Miss Nalder the team leader came to the front of the stage and explained to everyone what Team 2 was learning this term! Then finally everyone couldn't wait for Team 3!

Team 3 had an song in real life video everyone enjoyed! They would lip-sync lines from a popular song depending on the emotions they had! Mr Moran was very funny! He had funny singing and also he had lip-synced the songs really good! Even Miss King, Miss Eadie, and Miss Davis were lip-syncing the songs too! Mr Moran had asked what are you doing for the holidays? and he replied with a song! It was really cool!

Now Miss King also came to the front of the stage and explained what they were going to be learning about this term! Now Mr Burt told everyone to shout out " Teaamm 4" !
The school was curious on what their movie was going to be about. Mr Jacobsen hit the play button and the movie played!

The first scene showed all the Team 4 teachers in a car! They were making a "Carpool Karaoke". They did similar to what Team 3 did but they lip-synced songs in a car. Every time the song changed the teachers would change seats, change emotions, and also had a few instruments popping in their hands. It was pretty cool. The team leader Mr Somerville explained that they were going to be learning how to play different instruments based on music.

The Teachers Band!
Now finally, the item you've have all been waiting for "Teaaammm fiivvee" shouts Mr Burt! The Team 5 teachers run across the hall racing to the stage! Mr Wiseman pulls out an couch from the side of the stage! Mr Wiseman acts as a father for the play with Ms Tapuke being his wife! They call their other acting patners" Whaea Kelly, Mrs Tele'a, and Miss Ilaoa. They all watch a short clip from the movie Lion King. The music always changes with Simba getting held up in the air! The music depended on their emotions!

The song " Let it go" played and they were completely horrified! "Don't let the baby go" says Mrs Tele'a! They throw popcorn at the screen and are really scared! This term Team 5 are going to be learning about how music in movies can change someones emotions or feelings! Then the assembly ended with a prayer, a korero from Mr Burt and a song " Musical Madness".

Enjoy term 4 bloggers!

Holiday Blogging #2 - Travel Experiences/Ratings

Hey bloggers! Today I'm going to tell you about some recent Travel Experiences!
Recently I just finished travelling from Hawaii and The United States! I have also recently travelled to Seattle, Washington which was amazing! And I also travelled to Honolulu and Hilo, Hawaii!

My flight took place on the 30th of August 2017 and I came back on the 15th of September. Anyways me and some family members flew on Hawaiian Airlines which was amazing.
Honolulu International Airport!

The flight took 8 hours straight from Auckland, New Zealand to Honolulu, Hawaii! It was a good flight! I also get plane-sick on flights that take more than 5 hours, have a lot of plan turbulence, and also have a rough landing which results to the flight I took and it was really boring!

Ratings for Hawaiian Airlines!

Flight Attendant Personality - The flight attendants were very kind-hearted people! They served us with kindness and heaps more! There was also a very nice lady who was always smiling! She was really kind! I would rate the Flight Attendants from Hawaiian Airlines - 9/10

Food - Now let's talk about the food! The first meal of the flight was in the first 1 or 2 hours of the flight! It was a light meal with an sandwich, fruit, water, vegetables, snacks and juice! It tasted really weird because we were in the air so I would rate the airplane food - 6 & 1/2 /10. On the way back to Auckland we ate Curry and Rice which was so good! I would rate it 10/101

Comfort - Comfortability! Now the seats we were sitting on were great! But some things were uncomfortable! First of all we did have travel pillows which were very comfortable and made our head and neck very comforting! Well the seat and the back-rest was very hard and was sore to sit on but we did have pillows and just sat on that! I would rate it and - 7/10

Entertainment - When we sat down in our seats we had screens in front of us! They were just behind the seat in front of you, when you sat down! They had Movies, TV Shows, Music, Games and even an app where you could see where the plane is. We flew past Fiji, Tonga, Samoa, Guam, Cook Islands, Easter Island and all the other Pacific Islands! I would rate it an - 10/10

You can read what I did in Hawaii if you scroll down a bit you will see some Travel Blog Posts I made in Hawaii and Seattle! I will also make an Delta Airlines Review soon! Also note I will be going to camp for 1 week so I will not be active for a while!
