Digital Nations - 2030 - #1 Extension Trip!

Hey Bloggers! On Monday, the Year 7 & 8 Extension group had the opportunity to attend the Digital Nations 2030 Conference/Summit located at Cordis Hotel in Auckland, New Zealand.

If you would like to see our experience click here  http://www.maoritelevision.com/news/regional/ngati-whatua-makes-moves-tech-sector.

So we bought our permission slips to school and left in the bus. When we arrived we were all shocked. We were surprised of how nice the hotel was! We walked in and the hotel looked jaw - dropping. We were all so shocked. Anyways we walked down these steps to enter a room.

Inside the room it was full of laptops, robots, tech and heaps more! We first sat down and we talked with our friend who has been teaching us to code since last year! Her name was Zoe from OMG Tech! She explained to us what we will be doing today and the kind of things we will be coding. After all of that we finally rushed off to any laptop or robot we could find. I started to code on this website named Code Avengers. There were certain levels you had to pass in order to earn a prize. I worked my way up and earned a sticker and a small chocolate bar which was awesome!

I switched to the next rotation which was coding a robot. It was very precise instructions we had to follow or else the robot will go and do another instruction you didn't tell it to do. We put all the information up and uploaded it onto the robot with an cord. It was really cool how we coded the robot!

We also participated in Makey-Makey were you could control a instrument tapping fruit. It was really cool. Also we went to the bathroom and it was really fancy and wealthy. There was golden tiles on the floor and there was a really nice hand soap we used which smelled so nice.
