The Big 2017 Polynesian Celebration!

Chehuuuuu! Guess what? Yesterday Team 5 got the opportunity to experience the 2nd day of Polyfest along with some other schools! The trip was for us to experience and learn more about our Polynesian culture. The stages that had cultural groups performing on were the Maori stage, Cook Island stage and the Diversity Stage! I really wanted to watch the Samoan and Tongan stages but they start on Friday and Saturday! We arrived on a bus and waited in line for about 5-10 minutes then we got to go inside well actually outside.

My 1st highlight happened when we arrived and got to attend some of the workshops. Some workshops were finding out about the ancient culture and traditions about our people.  Plus we saw a lot of stalls selling Island related stuff you could wear and eat. My group also got to go to a workshop called “Te Wananga o Aotearoa where they, had a 360 degree camera and record us with some cool moves!

After participating in all of these fun workshops we had the opportunity to get into groups and spread wild! We got to go to different stages to watch people perform, do fun activities and heaps more! Even some of my family was there cheering on my cousin, as she was performing on Diversity Stage in the Fijian group. Also today, my aunty will be performing in a Tongan group for AGGS. After watching a few performances we were hot and dying to jump into a pool. We were so exhausted we went to buy some drinks to cool us down. Finally we got to watch some real action go on with the hard pukana’s and the hard poi movements, but I was really dying to go watch some Tongan and Samoan stages.

Lastly it is really important for students to participate in a polyfest group because it is priority to learn about your traditions in your culture and learn the dances of the ancestors that were there before you! Join a polyfest group even if you're Chinese or Indian, find out if there is a Diversity stage group in your school, but it is really important to join a polyfest group to follow the footsteps and the ways your ancestors shared.

It hit 2:00 and it was time to travel back to school! No… I didn’t want to leave, well at least I was coming back on Saturday where the Tongan and Samoan stages were on. Yay! Anyways we lined back up and hopped back into the bus and we went away! Also we got to take back some awesome gifts from the polyfest workshops such as: Mobile phone fans, Calendars, Posters, Temporary tattos and heaps more to explore and have fun with!

One sunny morning the $5 combo gang were playing on the playground. Their names are Yummy Stacker,Salty fries,Frozen flavours,Frosty cream,Apple lava pie and 6 pack bullets. Yummy Stacker is a delicious burger,Salty fries is a pack of french fries,Frozen flavours is a Frozen coke with multiple flavours,Frosty cream is a sundae with caramel and chocolate flavours, Apple lava pie is a Apple pie, and 6 pack bullets is a 6 pack chicken nuggets. 

Meanwhile on the playground they were playing tag. "Swoosh" a local newspaper flew into Yummy stacker's face. He read the newspaper and paused. "All McDonald's restaurants will be shut down today" !!! NO! $5 combo gang will save the DAY!!! They flew in their private jet to the McDonald's headquarters. They arrived at their destination. 

They walked in and talked to Ronald McDonald the creator of McDonald's. "What happened ?" "McDonald's is closing down because the $6 combo gang from Burger king is shutting McDonald's down" he replied. "We have to stop them" the $5 combo gang said. They flew to all the burger king's in the world and said "Why are you doing this?" We want to be the most popular food fast restaurant in the world." all burger king's said.  

"This is not OK " Apple Lava Pie screamt, . She used her hot beaming lava in her pie to burn them. "Ok we will stop they said."

Then McDonald's was put all back together.

Mitchell Adventure Story Starter 2016

My story starter:  Write one story about taking a journey with a willing explorer who navigates home without a compass

In the luscious amazon were big muddy footsteps in the mud as we were travelling home. Wait I forgot to introduce myself! My name is Mitchell and here is my friend I found along the way Sam. Sam is a professional explorer and is willing to find home without a compass. Let’s Go. As we walk into the slippery mud patches of the Amazon in the creep of time we heard a sound like this “Prushhhhhhhh”!!!! In the corner of Sam’s eye was a fierce tiger with smokey black eyes. The tiger stepped and stepped coming towards us and it sure looked like it was HUNGRY! We dashed through the tall long trees and the tiger chased after us.”Ahhhhhhhh tell my mum I love her” Sam screamt. Luckily the tiger got lost. ‘Phew” I said that was a adventure! “It sure was” Sam puffed. % mins later we met with the famous river. “How are we going to make it across?” Sam questioned. “Hey recently I just finished Year 6 camp,and we made rafts there. We could use some of these vines for ropes and these big logs as seats!” Me and sam put the logs together and wrapped it tightly with some vines. “Let’s ride this thing” I said. We put the raft into the water and let it float. We used some thick branches as paddles. We hopped on and paddles across. “What a creative idea Mitchell” Sam said. “Thanks” I said. Then we continued our journey. 20 mins on our journey we saw some huts. “Umm” these must be the Uncontacted tribes of the Amazon. “They are very dangerous” Let’s go around the huts. “Bingggg” an arrow! We ran and ran until the tribe was finished chasing us. Finally we made it to the city of Brazil. Traffic,Shops people. “I’m home” Sam screamt. “All thanks to you” we will have a big feast. I went to Sam’s house and we and his big family had a delicious meal. After that I went back to New Zealand on the plane. The end.

A wild adventure

The sun shone on her bedside as her eyes opened up like an new blossom.

She put her silk blankets aside,stood up and felt the cold of her feet on the wooden floorboards. Ally took a few steps until she was at the door. Her hand gripped on the handle as she walked out. Her eyes took a glimpse at her mum making spongy pancakes with syrup and whipped cream.

“Yummmm” she said to herself. “Morning mum” she said. “ Good morning dear” Her mum gave her a big kiss on the cheek. Ally sat on the table,ate breakfast and did her morning routine before she headed of to college. Her dad has been missing since she could say her first words.

At 5 the only memory she could remember of him was her dad laughing with her at the beach. Ally stepped into the school gate thinking of a plan. After school Ally walked along the pathway to home. “Ally” a voice whispered.

Her body stopped instantly. She turned around and whispered back “Who is it” she said with shivers coming up her back.  No one replied. “Probably those little voices saying I forgot my homework sheets at school. Hmmm never mind” The voice popped up again. “Ally” Ok I am not falling for these jokes anymore.

She turned her head around and saw and door between the bushes of the abandoned land that no one ever visits.

“She ran across the road as her caramel hair swished in the air. Her black shoes met the wet mud. “Who cares I'm up for an adventure. She skipped towards the door. But it was not and door it was an reflection from the other side of the road.

How is that happening. Her fingernail touched the reflection it was a bubble.

Skiiiiiiiiid. Her shoes slipped “Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh” she screamt. She fell into a cave. “I thought I was gonna hurt myself” She landed on a big pile of slimy moss. “Gross” Mum just washed this last night nevermind. She took a big footstep onto the hard rock that was placed when this cave was made.

“A light” she echoed. This cave is really big. She walked up and down for 10 minutes until she made it. “Yassssss” Her shoes gripped and she climbed,climbed and climbed to the top. “Wow” She could not believe it.

It was Regor Hospital. Her dad went their one day and poof disappeared. He was never to be seen after that. She took a pic and sent it to mum “Is this the hospital dad was lost in” She immediately answered the call her mum dialled. “Where are you.  “ I made my way here from across the road. Reca road. I'm coming now,“ Don't you finish at 7:00 today ?” “I finish early today okay byeeee.”

Her mum rushed to Reca road walked into the cave,landed on the moss,climbed up and down,climbed up the rocks and made it to the top.

Ally and her mother walked to the main door and twisted the handle. “It’s opened” I am surprised the lights are still on. “10 years Ally” They closed the main door and crept up the crusty stairs.

Mitchell Writing Narrative - Kayak Trip

In a small Japanese village named Taichou by the owner of the land lived the Taichou people. They lived near the riverbanks of the great waterfall Shishu that flowed all the way to the border between North Korea and China. In that village lived the Pichu family who owned the local store Sushi Palace. They were a very hard working family. The store owners had 1 child named Taeyoung . She loved to take adventures by the big land owned by the Raichu family the parents of her best friend Hitachi. He loved to go on adventure with her and play cooking and other games they loved to play. One evening Taeyoungś parents were cooking then suddenly they heard a loud shake. “Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh” both her parents roared. “Get the kayak” Taeyoung screeched. “Hitachi run” she screamed. Hitachi clutched his parents hands and ran to the 3 double kayaks.

“Quickly towards Shishu” they cried. Mr and Mrs Pichu went in 1 double kayak, the Raichu parents doubled up and Taeyoung and Hitachi went on the other double. They all put their kayaks out in the flowing waves,jumped in and paddled their way down the waterfall. “Pwo Shhhhhhhhhhh” their kayaks glided down the flowing waterfall. Tae Young's voice raised so high her vocal cords were pitched.  Hitachi said “Bye mum and dad” he knew they were going another direction. Swishhhhhhh. The kayak turned the other way.  How Wwwwww did we get here? Taeyoung asked. They were in an magical river. Hitachi did the paddling and Taeyoung just looked around in a mood of amazement.  The waters were as calm as a sleeping baby. “Whoaaaah” the willow tree talked. “Hello welcome to the paradise of Japan” she peacefully said. Animals were chatting in excitement.

Ging Ging. A bathhouse was in sight. “We need to get out of here” Taeyoung whispered to Hitachi’s ear. “NOW” POOOOOOF. A witch appeared out of the blue. “AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH” “What are you doing in my property”  “Nothing we are just enjoying the paradise of your PROPERTY.” The witch said in order to leave you have to work. “Never you are not the boss” Hitachi said in bravery. “If you do not you will get publicly tortured in front of my monsters then you will suffer with great pain” Taeyoung gave a big hug to Hitachi and weeped. Her tears dropped into the lake with fear.  “OK we will work for you but you have to promise us you will let us free” “DEAL”                                                                                                                                                                                                                

“Your first job is to clean up the bathhouse.” They both stood up. “We will do it” They cleaned for hours and hours. “Finally they got let out” “Hahahahaha” I will never let you out.” You are my servants. “NO YOU PROMISED A DEAL” No I do not want to let you out. You are my servants forever. Hitachi ran to the Willow Tree as it made a movement. “Here take this and throw it in her eyes. There she will be blinded. “Ok but how do we get out” “Pull the magical lever that will open the gates.” OK thanks. Hitachi ran and threw the liquid into her eyes. “AHHHHHHHH” she screamt as her eyes burned in flames. Hitachi pulled the lever,jumped into the kayak with Taeyoung and paddled their way out. “Bye Bye loser” They paddled down the river and into the cam waters of Tokyo. “HITACHI,TAEYOUNG” they paddled towards them. “Where were you 2” Long story short we were working”

“Well I guess we are going to be living in kayaks all our life” Actually Hitachi’s dad built a wooden house beside the big piece of land that no one was using. “Cool”

There is a school just down the road. “Yayyyy school” Taeyoung said with excitement. “ Why don't we go back to our new house” SURE.

They lived a very happy life. The End.

Mitchell The life of Usain Bolt

In the small town of Sherwood, Trelawny grew an active young boy named Usain. He was so active his parents once took him to the doctors.  But he was alright it was just that running was on top of his hobbie list.

He always failed in school. He always got distracted and concerned about something going on.

As he grew he loved running more and more and starting to want to compete in world competitions.  At the age of 15 he won two times and that encouraged him to go on the world stage. He went to the olympics but he got beat by some other athletes. He trained and trained until the next olympics in 2004.

He finally beat the athletes in Beijing and won gold that was an unforgettable moment. One race he was sprinting

He did not believe in himself. His mum came and said “Just believe in yourself”

From then on he started to believe and kept winning and winning. Usain Bolt has signed up with Gatorade and just recently signed a lifetime contract.

Mitchell Explanation Writing - Why technology can be considered as a drug?

It can be considered as a performance-enhancing drug because other athletes have technology when others don’t. It can also be a performance-enhancing drug because they can use better technology than other technology that is being used at the olympics.

The advantage of other athletes who can afford technology is fair but when athletes in poorer countries who can not afford technology is not fair. Athletes over the world practice and practice hoping they would get that gold medal. It is not fair because people who use performance-enhancing drugs cheat and win when clean people had the choice.

It can also be used as technology because using better technology than technology everyone else is using might be considered as a performance-enhancing drug. Such as Avanti. Avanti is NZ’s secret bike company who made slimmer and more fashioned bikes than the others. If Usain Bolt were to race Jesse Owens on an racetrack it is most likely for Usain Bolt to win. He would win because he has better technology and clothing than Jesse Owens did in the old days. Almaz Ayana from Ethiopia broke the world record for her running track. The last time this record has been broken was by a Chinese athlete who was caught taking performance-enhancing drugs and cheating.

I think that technology is considered as a Performance-Enhancing Drug. Reading all my information I have written I think that it is a performance-enhancing drug. Not all technology is used and considered as performance-enhancing drugs. If a world record is made around 10x better than the record than people must be sure that this athlete has cheated.

Mitchell Real Life Hero's - Christian the Lion

In London England 2 Australian men named John and Ace raised up a lion for sale named. Later on they moved to another country. They named him Christian because they would always train and teach him skills at a local church. They taught him as he grew up much older. One day John and Ace decided to let Christian into the wild and set him free so they let him loose into Kenya, Africa.

A couple of years later they decided to meet up with Christian the Lion again because they missed him so much. When they arrived in Africa they just found out that Christian was the leader of his pride.

John and Ace were proud of him. They finally found out were Christian and his pride lived and found him. Some people thought Christian the Lion would not remember John and Ace and something bad will probably happen to them but that was false. The golden lion dashed to their face hugging them with his paws. They were relieved.

They were happily crying for joy. Then after some minutes of reunitement Christian introduced his wife to John and Ace. John and Ace have been heros by raising a lion to be a leader of a lion pride.

Mitchell Avengers Assemble Narrative

“Whew” Captain America said. “ We saved the day ” Their mission was just finished. That night the Avengers had a party with treats,beverages and the finest food dishes in town celebrating a month of saving people across the globe. In the dark glowy sky in space lay Thanos resting on his throne made out of hard rock and lava. He watched beyond the Avengers celebrating. He wanted to be like them world famous,rich saving people. He decided to make a plan and destroy the Avengers to become the leader of the universe.

He made Iron man clones to hypnotise all to follow him and his ways. Petter Pots had heard what Thanos had said and told the Avengers immediately. “ Thanos is planning on ATTACK!!! ” she shouted with fear. Hawkeye disliked him since he was a child. Thanos was the one who had wanted to kill his family but still never had the chance too.

On one afternoon Thanos was ready. He wore galaxian machine guns and flew down to earth with his robotic army. They landed on earth about 15 kilometers away from the headquarters on a field waiting to attack. The Avengers team looked out the window and knew it was time. “ Avengers ASSEMBLE !!!!!” They charged out the door to the robots. BOOM SMASH WHACK in a robots face.

KAPOW WWW smashing 50 at once. PLUSHHHHHHHHHHHHH the sound of a flamethrower smashing a thousand. Punching,smashing whatever you name it they were down in a second. They finally came up to Thanos the ruler of the robots. Chuck Chuck walking up to him. “ What do you want?” “I want to be ruler” No one will be ruler. You will never be ruler He cried in pain.

Be ruler of your own planet. “ I will try” he cried. He flew back up into the sky slowly vanishing away. The Avengers happy. They also recycled all of the metal robots.The avengers were in the radio,news,newspaper,and magazines. They were heros. Safe Heros.

Mitchell Will He Save Her

When Tony was a child his dream he admired was to be a superhero. He dreamt of saving people and being the hero of the day. Appearing in the news,radio and TV. One day he decided he wanted to make his dream become true. He got some big pieces of Iron and melted it with Maroon and Gold paint mixed together. He formed his costume so he could fit in. Then he needed to do one more thing. He put in a remote control robot machine so he could now fly and have super powers.

He met some other men and women with supernatural powers and they became known as the Avengers. One morning his team was on their first mission. Petter Pots was in prison from Dr Doom. Dr Doom put her in prison because she tried helping the Avengers by stealing gold to give back to them. Iron man heard about this and he wanted to do something about it. He blasted off to the jail and went to the cage.

He was outside of the prison."You have arrived at your destination" the robot machine said. He walked inside. He saw a glimpse of Petter Pots in a cage but when he tried to get her out Dr Doom pushed her down the hole and into the sewer. “Ahhhhhhhhhhhh” she shouted. Iron man heard her and made his costume go fast as speed. She nearly hit the water and at that instance she was in Iron man’s hands. He lifted her up and pushed her aside and “SPLASHHHHHHHHHHH” that was the sound of Dr Doom’s face in the sewer.

“THANK YOU” she said She was very happy and she became part of the Avengers and gave them heaps of equipment. Iron man was happy too. The first person he had saved.
