Mitchell's Extension Game - Reflection

Hey bloggers! Here is my Extension scratch Game reflection I have written about. Enjoy!

During Term 2 the Year 7 & 8 Extension group got the opportunity to make another game on Scratch. Scratch is basically a website full of code, where you can create your own games. Last term in Term 1 we created a game about the environment of Tamaki and how to clean our green space.

Anyways we also got to present those games at the Te Oro Manaiakalani Exhibition. Well this term we have been starting to create a game about this term’s topic Now that’s Thinking and the game is based about Space and the Maori New Year - Matariki.

I am doing a individual project as my other partners are working on their own one. So far I have started to shoot, move my spaceship, and more. We also had the amazing opportunity to have help from a coding expert from OMG tech Zoe, who helped alot.

Also for the sprites drawn on Hyperstudio - DLO - Tevita, Angelo and I have drawn some sprites for our game. We have drawn a spacecraft, some aliens, lazer guns, stars and heaps more sprites that will be in our game.

I also browsed through some video clips on Youtube, Mrs Lagitupu has put on for us to view. I used some coding I saw on those videos and used it on my own personal game. It was really helpful with both the game and Zoe from OMG tech.

I have only created 1 level as creating a Scratch game is very hard.

The highlights of the game was making the sprites and levels. It was very difficult. Also

Mitchell - Summer learning journey Day # 11

Hello bloggers. Sorry I have not been posting for a while. I was with my family camping all the way in Tutukaka near Whangarei. I will be posting some photos very soon. Let's begin Day 11 !
Activity 1 - Participating in a NZ sport
I have been asked to take

a picture of me participating in a New Zealand sport. Here it is: This is me on my first day of Cricket. In the picture I am holding a bat and a cricket ball. This was taken at the Point England reserve. I was playing for the Ellerslie Cricket Club with some of my friends. 

Activity 2 - Sporting hero

My sports hero is Mika Vukona. He plays for the Basketball team the New Zealand "Skycity Breakers" (Auckland). He plays the position Power foward. He is my sports hero because he is a great basketball player and he is a great person. He is also Fijian like me which is amazing although I have tongan in me too. 

Bonus - Best NZ sport
According to the Love New Zealand website, the most popular sports in New Zealand are rugby union, rugby league, netball, soccer and cricket.In my opinion I have to decide which is the best sport. I would definitely choose "Rugby union" for sure. Here is why I have chosen it to be the best NZ sport.

. William Webb Ellis created the sport rugby by picking up a rugby ball and started running with it

Mitchell Summer learning journey - Day # 8

Activity 1 - Sunshine and Swimming togs

I have chosen to participate in option 2 instead of taking a photo of myself doing a summer activity. Here is a paragraph on what I like to do in Summer:

In summer I love to travel to all different kind of beaches. I love the nice beachy waves that New Zealand's beaches have on offer. Other things I like to do in Summer holidays is go camping with my family to camp sites up North. We travel up Kataia,Rotorua and heaps of other campsites. Soon we will be heading to Whangarei. I will still blog on my mum's phone. 1 other thing I love to do in Summer holiday is spend times with my family. Ecspecially when my big family come over like my aunties,uncles,cousins,grandparents and great grandparents. We like to have very yummy lunches.
Activity 2 - Family Interview
I have been asked to ask/interview one of my family members what is their 5 favourite things to do in the Summer. I have decided to choose my sister Leonora. Here are her answers : 1. Going on boats 2. Surfing 3. Swimming 4. Going to the pools 5. Going to the beach. She sure loves the Water! Just like Moana. We watched the new movie Moana on Boxing day. It was a really good movie.
